HGH: Performance enhancer or healer?

Human Growth Hormone: Performance Enhancing Drug or Rehabilitation Tool?

Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar: a Case Study in Joint Pain Management with HGH

Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar was originally named Sharmon Shah. When he first began his collegiate athletic career in football at UCLA he was still referred to by his given name, but he converted to Islam a few years later. When he converted, his Imam renamed him Karim Abdul-Jabar. Coincidentally, this is also the name of the basketball legend that also went to UCLA.

Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar is a native of Los Angeles, California who went to UCLA to play for the Bruins under Coach Terry Donahue. His career at UCLA was illustrious, and he was named team MVP for two consecutive years. Over the course of his stay at the college he ran for more than three thousand yards. In 1996 he was drafted by the National Football League to play for the Miami Dolphins.

As he became more and more well known as a result of his great play, he was often confused for the basketball star that shared the same name and he was then sued to change his name, for which he agreed. It is clear that Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar has gone through a series of transformations in his life. One of his most recent was due to Human Growth Hormone Therapy.

Throughout his life, al-Jabbar was forced to deal with chronic hip and knee problems at an early age. When he was a child he had no issues, but by the time he was ten years old he required hip surgery to correct an imbalance in his skeletal system. Although he experienced no pain in his early youth, the game of football exacerbated his hip as well as his knee, creating significant pain issues.

Al-Jabbar’s UCLA Knee Surgery

He underwent knee surgery at UCLA in order to attempt to alleviate the issue, and the pain was relieved temporarily. Over time the pain began to come back and he had to undergo surgery once again while in the NFL. This time, however, the surgery provided minimal benefits. His career in football put incredible wear upon his already vulnerable knee.

Pain Caused by Torn Cartilage

The cartilage surrounding his knee was completely worn away, and his meniscus was worn down by 50%. This severe deterioration caused severe structural issues, deforming and contorting the joint in ways which caused him great pain. The doctors told him that his pain was essentially the result of the bare bone of his femur grinding against his patella.

HGH: Controversial Yet Effective

Human Growth Hormone is surrounded by controversy today. It is well known for its use as a Performance Enhancing Drug and has been used by everyone from Lance Armstrong to Jose Canseco for that purpose. One significant issue with the way that Human Growth Hormone is legislated by the athletic community is that it is rarely considered as a legitimate treatment for issues such as joint pain management. Al-Jabbar is one of many men and women in this country who have utilized Human Growth Hormone HRT in order to resolve joint pain.

Al-Jabbar began HGH Shots after he left the NFL because he continued to deal with the immense pain that resulted from his hard-hitting career as a running back.

HGH for Joint Restoration

Al-Jabbar travelled to Miami Florida in order to seek relief from his joint pain. He enlisted the aid of a prominent surgeon who made the decision to provide him with direct HGH Hormone Injections. In this form of therapy, Human Growth Hormone is injected directly into the problem area in order to spur cartilage growth. Al-Jabbar’s surgeon stuck the needle directly into his knee and pumped a curative dose of BioIdentical HGH into his damaged knee. Every two weeks he returned to the doctor’s office to continue taking a battery of injections. His regimen lasted for two months.

Human Growth Hormone Mischaracterized

Although the media portrays HGH Hormone Injections with great stigma, the ex-football star says that he felt no ethical misgivings as a result of his use of “Performance Enhancing HGH.”

Al-Jabbar says that Football is a gladiator sport at its core and that the sport causes great stress upon the bodies of its players, especially at the professional level. To him, Human Growth Hormone is just another tool that players should be able to utilize in order to recover faster and maintain themselves on the field.

HGH Banned by Major Sports

The National Football League, Major League Baseball, the International Olympic Committee, and the World Anti-Doping Agency all consider HGH as a performance enhancing drug and therefore ban its use for professional and Olympic athletics. Usually discussions of Human Growth Hormone go hand-in-hand with that of Testosterone and other anabolic steroids. This is because the two drugs have often been used in tandem by top-level athletes who want to unfairly get the edge on their competition by boosting their strength and agility.

Ben Johnson and HGH

The first famous user of Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone PEDs was Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson was a world-renowned American Olympic Track Athlete who won the gold medal in sprinting at the 1988 Olympics. After he had earned his gold, it was discovered that he used Anabolic Steroids and Growth Hormone in order to amplify his performance, and his time was retroactively disqualified and he was stripped of his medal.

Largely as a result of this scandal, the United States Congress moved quickly to criminalize the use of these two drugs for performance enhancement. For those in the media and the public sphere, Steroids and HGH Injections are united in the public consciousness for their mutual usage by so many athletes. They are used commonly among these athletic stars, but we tend to downplay the extent to which they pervade the sports which we enjoy every day.

HGH and Testosterone Serve Different Purposes

The problem is that these two drugs are unique from one another. The reason that they are so often used at the same time is that they provide different sets of benefits which greatly complement one another. Athletes who have used these drugs in the past say that in the athletic community these drugs are used for quite different purposes.

Al-Jabbar says that Human Growth Hormone is generally used for its restorative qualities. It has the ability to speed up the healing process and induce results that would normally be unachievable or only achievable with major surgery. Testosterone, on the other hand is used primarily for muscle building and strength development.

Although Human Growth Hormone also provides these strength benefits to a lesser extent, Steroids such as Testosterone are the drug of choice for players who merely want to strengthen muscles. Human Growth Hormone benefits muscle growth primarily by reducing downtime and enhancing energy levels, encouraging an individual to work out longer and harder.

Physicians Agree about HGH

Al-Jabbar’s views of Testosterone and HGH are largely corroborated by the medical community. The vast amount of scientific research regarding Human Growth Hormone has been performed on adolescents who suffer from growth disorders and elderly patients, and not much research has been performed on healthy patients, much less athletes in peak condition.

Studies that have been performed on healthy patients show that HGH has the ability to increase the size of the muscles but use of Human Growth Hormone without changing any other aspects of one’s life will likely not create significant changes in physical strength in healthy patients. It can help muscles grow faster, but it does not directly lead to spikes in strength like Testosterone is capable of.

What is Human Growth Hormone?

Human Growth Hormone is a vitally important hormone that produces beneficial effects throughout the lifespan. The hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland in the anterior portion by organs in the brain known as somatotrophs. The primary role that Human Growth Hormone plays in the body is to produce Insulin-like Growth Factor One. After HGH is released by the pituitary or otherwise introduced to the bloodstream it cycles through the liver where it is converted into IGF-1.

What Does IGF-1 Do?

One of the primary functions of IGF-1 is to instigate the formation of bone and cartilage. This is why, under the influence of high levels of Human Growth Hormone, adolescents grow in height during the age of puberty. This is also one of many reasons why Human Growth Hormone is such an object of intrigue among both orthopedic specialists and athletes. It has been proven by scientific study that Bio-Identical Human Growth Hormone is highly effective at stimulating cartilage growth when injected into areas where the joints are damaged by injury and disease.

Professional Opinions about HGH

Doctor Rick Delamarter is a medical professor at UCLA that is also a widely renowned spinal surgeon. He says that the benefits of Human Growth Hormone are clearly apparent in patients who utilize the hormone therapy. He says that Human Growth Hormone has been used by athletes of all levels and calibers of excellence and that HGH has real and tangible benefits on the outcomes of patients who have recently underwent surgery. It reduces the time of physical therapy. It decreases the need for future surgeries. It helps players come back to 100% peak performance or as near that peak as possible as quickly as possible.

It’s absolutely clear why HGH is so widely used among professional athletes—especially athletes who play sports that are particularly damaging to the body. Football is literally a game of bone-crushing hits. Players undergo major hits play after play for weeks at a time. Baseball is another sport where Human Growth Hormone use has reached endemic levels in the past as well. It is particularly good at helping pitchers recover from joint injuries that result from constantly throwing pitches and wearing their arms out. It has also been used by many heavy hitting superstars such as Mark McGuire in order to help them break home run records.

FDA-approved Uses for HGH

Although Delamarter recognizes the rejuvenative benefit of Human Growth Hormone, he does not provide HGH Hormone Therapy to any of his patients because the hormone is not approved for use after surgery for rehabilitation. HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy is often prescribed off label for other uses, but the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services have only officially approved the drug for three uses.

Adult HGH Deficiency

HGH levels decline at a rate of around one percent each year after the age of thirty. Over time, the HGH levels drop to a point in which the body begins to age more rapidly and otherwise deteriorate as a result. Human Growth Hormone Replacement Therapy has the ability to relieve many of the issues related to HGH Deficiency, improving health and extending the lifespan in a number of different ways for these patients.

Childhood Idiopathic Short Stature

Human Growth Hormone is the key ingredient which induces changes in height that occur as a result of puberty. Although Estrogen and Testosterone are the hormones which cause puberty to begin and sexual differentiation to result, Human Growth Hormone is what causes children to reach their final adult height. Many children are born with or develop disorders which either limit or negate their HGH production. For these patients, BioIdentical HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy helps them grow and develop naturally.

AIDS Wasting Disease

AIDS Wasting disease is a physiological disorder that commonly affects AIDS patients. As a result of this disorder, these individuals have a tendency to lose a significant amount of muscle mass and body fat over time. AIDS Wasting Disease is medically defined as a loss of 10% or more of body weight as a result of the disease. HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy has been proven to have the ability to stop or prevent muscle atrophy and excessive weight loss as a result of the AIDS virus.

Athletes Use HGH Despite Roadblocks

In spite of this, professional athletes have been able to acquire Human Growth Hormone via other avenues. Athletes most commonly are prescribed Human Growth Hormone Injections by AntiAging Physicians who provide prescription based upon a diagnosis of HGH Deficiency.

HGH is Completely Safe When Not Abused

Dr. Delamarter has seen no evidence that Human Growth Hormone presents any real danger to patients when provided and administered in a responsible way. He admits that his evidence is only anecdotal, but he assures us that he has seen a large amount of cases and received much feedback from his many patients and associates.

Many athletes tell him that their injury recovery times are sometimes reduced by half. In a world where an ACL injury can put a player out for a whole season, many players, coaches, and personal trainers find it vitally important to reduce downtime at almost any cost—and when the reward to risk ratio is so high, it is very hard for athletes to turn down HGH Injections.

The Irony of Human Growth Hormone Controversy

The Irony of HGH Controversy is that in the end the supporters of Human Growth Hormone will likely win out over their opponents. If researchers are able to prove the hypothesis that HGH Hormone Injections are both safe and effective for use in patients who are in the process of surgical recovery, then it is almost completely certain that many of the bans regarding legitimate HGH use will be lifted. If Human Growth Hormone provides significant benefit to surgical patients it will quickly become wide spread in use all around the United States and the world.

HGH Is a Legitimate Treatment for Joint Injuries

On top of this, it seems likely that HGH shots also have a place in lieu of surgery as well. Human Growth Hormone has been shown in many cases to revitalize the cartilage in severely damaged joints. In these cases, the benefits of Human Growth Hormone can completely prevent the need for surgical procedures to alleviate the pain. This is for three primary reasons:

The first reason is that Human Growth Hormone when delivered via injection has the ability to spur the growth of new cartilage in the area of injection. The growth of new cartilage restores the buffer zone between the bones which prevents them from grinding against one another, the most common source of joint pain.

The second reason that HGH benefits patients with joint discomfort is because HGH restores fluid balance in the knee. When the knees do not have enough lubrication, this exacerbates the destruction of cartilage and increases the amount of bone to bone grinding that occurs.

The third reason is that Human Growth Hormone allows the muscles to recover from physical therapy more quickly and also rejuvenates the tendons that connect muscle to bone. This also reduces the pressure on the joints, allowing the cartilage to grow in more favorable conditions.

Although HGH Has Many Benefits, It Can Be Abused

There is no doubt in Dr. Delamarter’s mind that there are many professional and Olympic athletes, as well as high school and college athletes that would consider abusing Human Growth Hormone in order to obtain the edge over their competition on the field and court.

Professional athletes are also the greatest market for Human Growth Hormone for Performance Enhancement because of the potential benefits that they could receive by being the best. Performance enhanced by Human Growth Hormone could be the difference between the minor leagues and a big league MLB contract. HGH shots could turn a bench player into a star. For what amounts to a minimal financial risk, these individuals could reap incredible rewards.

HGH Testing is Ineffectual

Another reason that Human Growth Hormone use is so common among professional athletes is that the risk of being caught is not significantly high. Look at Lance Armstrong. After being the central figure of international cycling for over a decade, he was able to conceal his use of HGH and other Performance Enhancing Drugs until very recently.

HGH is nearly impossible to test for directly in the blood. The main diagnostic which can uncover Human Growth Hormone usage is by testing indirectly for Insulin-like Growth Factor-1. Human Growth Hormone stays in the blood stream for a very short period of time—only minutes. Most HGH is absorbed by the liver where it is converted into IGF-1. IGF-1 levels elevate as a result of HGH Treatments for one to three days. This is still a very narrow window, and the nature of professional and Olympic drug testing make it exceedingly easy to avoid being caught.

Cyclical HGH Therapy

HGH Injections are often utilized for no longer than a month at a time when used by athletes for Performance Enhancement. This one month of treatment can provide significant benefits for six months to a full year after Injection Therapy has ceased. Most Professional and Olympic PED Drug testing is announced in advance. Either this, or players have a specific period of the year (i.e. during the preseason and throughout the season) where they know they will be tested. This generally provides athletes with a very clear guideline of when Human Growth Hormone Therapy can be used without failing a drug test.

How Do Athletes Get Caught Using HGH?

There are a few general ways that athletes get caught using Human Growth Hormone:

They get too careless with their PED usage. One physician particularly knowledgeable about Human Growth Hormone and PED testing said that only an idiot would be able to fail a Human Growth Hormone/IGF-1 test without trying.

Another way that these individuals tend to get caught is through financial records. Many times physicians who prescribe Human Growth Hormone keep records of their celebrity clients. When a clinic which sells HGH for illegal purposes get busted, government officials often obtain these lists and in some cases will release those records. Also, in other cases, unscrupulous HGH providers may reveal lists of celebrity HGH patients in order to provide cheap and easy advertisement for their clinic.

A third way that athletes get caught is because other athletes out them. Lance Armstrong finally had to come clean because so much of the community was coming out against him. In the sport of Professional Cycling, PED usage was more endemic that any other sport. Over time, cyclists began to come clean and implicated Lance Armstrong as well. Although Armstrong continued to deny PED usage for years, the amount of circumstantial evidence provided by his fellow cyclists eventually forced him to break his silence.

Effects of HGH Abuse

  • Human Growth Hormone Abuse has been linked to a number of negative side effects including:

  • Diabetes

  • Exacerbation of cardiovascular complications

  • Joint and muscle pain

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Hypertension

  • Acromegaly (the abnormal growth of the bones of the hands, feet, and face)

  • Irregular organ growth

It is incredibly important to note that these negative side effects are almost universally caused by long-term abuse of HGH Hormone Injections, and therapeutic usage is generally far below the doses which lead to significant physiological issues. The two primary goals of HGH Hormone Shots are either to restore abnormally low hormone levels or to use HGH over a relatively brief period of time in order to increase the rate of bone, muscle, and joint rehabilitation.

HGH Does Not Cause Cancer

Luckily, there is no evidence that Human Growth Hormone increases cancer risk, but it can increase the rate at which certain tumors spread as a result of the way that the hormone naturally bolsters natural metabolic processes. Doctor Shlomo Melmed is a California doctor who specializes in endocrinology and he assures us that this is the case.

Opposing Viewpoints on HGH

Doctor Melmed is one of Human Growth Hormone’s detractors. He believes that the benefits of Human Growth Hormone Treatments for sports injuries are only temporary, and he suggests that patients avoid using the drug for that purpose. His recommendation flies directly in the face of Dr. Delamarter’s clinical experience, and it seems that Dr. Melmed errs grossly on the side of caution regarding HGH Treatments, as mounting evidence shows that his misgivings are largely unwarranted.

His point that HGH Abuse can lead to physical harm should not be taken lightly, however. It is important to use HGH Injections responsibly in order to greatly minimize the risks of overdose. HGH Treatments should only be used under the monitoring of an experienced Hormone Replacement Specialist.

HGH Case Study: Joe Root

Joe Root is also a user and proponent for HGH for Rehabilitation. He is a motocross pro-am rider from California who suffered a debilitating injury—shattering his hip and breaking his femur at the age of 44. Root’s orthopedic surgeon projected that he would undergo nine months to a full year of physical therapy in order to fully rehabilitate his body. Amazingly, it only took him two months to recover from the accident and he believes that Human Growth Hormone is the reason he achieved such a miraculous outcome. After his two month recovery period he was back to the racetrack to continue his career.

Dr. Mark Gordon of the A4M

The physician who prescribed Human Growth Hormone Treatments to Mr. Root is Doctor Mark Gordon. Mark Gordon is a Los Angeles area physician who specializes in Anti-Aging Hormone Treatments such as Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone, and he is one of the most prominent members of the A4M, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Gordon supervised Mr. Root’s Hormone Therapy plan from start to finish, while Root self-administered the Human Growth Hormone injections.

Root Still Uses HGH for Anti-Aging

Even after utilizing Human Growth Hormone as a physical therapy tool, Root still uses modest doses of the drug for Anti-Aging reasons. He administers a small dose of Human Growth Hormone into the subcutaneous tissue of his stomach once each day and 6 times every week. Root reports that the injections have vastly increased his already healthy level of fitness for a man of his age.

He says he has the body and energy of a 25 year old, and this helps him deflect and recover from the hard spills that are an unavoidable part of his career as a motocross racer. Consider him the Julio Franco of Southern California Motocross Racing. He has remained a top competitor even as he has long passed the age in which most racers retire.

Root Has Experienced no HGH Side-Effects

Root says that he does not believe that he has experienced any negative effects as a result of Human Growth Hormone HRT. He laughs as he says that the worst side effect he experiences are from fans and competitors who tell him they are amazed that he performs at such an elite level. He often competes in six races each day during the weekends of motocross season and he doesn’t experience significant tiredness or exhaustion even spending his entire weekends at the track. He says that it really freaks them out how he can handle such a heavy load.

Al-Jabbar’s HGH Experience

Al-Jabbar’s treatment was different that Root’s. His treatment was strictly related to his knee injury rather than in an attempt to undergo a full physical transformation. Al-Jabbar was a healthy adult with healthy Human Growth Hormone levels. The purpose of his therapy was to use HGH injections directly at the site of distress in order to speed up the process up healing at the injection site. His physician in Miami was Dr. Allen Dunn.

The Procedure

Dr. Dunn engaged in a minor surgery in order to remove the scar tissue that surrounded Al-Jabbar’s damaged knee joint. After clearing the knee joint of any excess tissue and debris he injected Human Growth Hormone directly into the knee in order to encourage the growth of cartilage. Today, Al-Jabbar has significantly more control over his injured knee.

He was not able to make a complete and total recovery because of the extent of his sports injury, but the combination of minor surgery and HGH Hormone Treatments returned him to a life more normal. Although he was no longer an NFL-caliber running back, he was able to experience life more naturally than before the surgery. He was no longer an elite competitor, but he regained the ability to play recreationally. He could now run and jump without experiencing severe pain. Today, al-Jabbar is a physical trainer in the state of Maryland.

HGH Increases Recovery Speed

Dr. Dunn says that he has used Human Growth Hormone for years as a means to increase the speed of rehabilitation for his patients. Over the course of his career he says that he has easily used HGH Injection Therapy to treat over 800 patients, a small number of which came from the professional athletic community. He says that according to his personal experience as a physician, HGH Rehabilitation Treatments work with about a seventy percent rate of success. According to Dunn, the state of Florida has very generous standards with regard to off-label usage of HGH and this allows him to bypass stricter federal guidelines and restrictions regarding Human Growth Hormone, although this form of treatment is still considered experimental.

Dr. Dunn on HGH

Dr. Dunn says that out of 800+ patients, none have experienced significant side effects as a result of their therapy. Dr. Dunn primarily recommends Human Growth Hormone Shots as a treatment for hip and knee pain which can in many cases make joint replacement unnecessary. In the future, HGH may become a common first approach to solve these issues which will greatly reduce the need for risky, yet necessary surgeries such as hip replacement.

Al-Jabbar, who played running back for the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, and Miami Dolphins, says that he believes that Dr. Dunn is ahead of the curve in many ways. Laboratory experiments and clinical trials have made it clear that Human Growth Hormone provides many clear benefits to patients with joint conditions. Al-Jabar feels that this Growth Hormone Treatment method will be quickly perfected and it will become a common method of Therapeutic HGH Rehabilitation.

Frequently Asked Questions about HGH

What is Human Growth Hormone?

HGH is a highly potent anabolic hormone that is produced by the human endocrine system. Human Growth Hormone is secreted by the Pituitary Gland near the base of the brain. Human Growth Hormone produces a number of effects on the human body. HGH stimulates muscle growth, providing energy and nutrients to muscle tissue which help them grow stronger.

How does HGH Break down Fat?

One of the reasons that HGH is so beneficial to muscle health is because of the manner in which the hormone affects adipose body fat. Adipose body fat is fatty tissue, primarily located on the hips, thighs, and waist which hold excess fat gathered up by the body. HGH increases fat metabolism, breaking down this adipose tissue and turning it into energy that the muscles can use to sustain themselves under duress and develop as a result of physical exertion.

How does HGH Strengthen the bones?

Human Growth Hormone has also been proven to greatly influence bone health as well. When used appropriately, it can help ward of osteoporosis, greatly slowing the bone degeneration that naturally occurs with age. In addition to this, Human Growth Hormone has been proven to stimulate cartilage growth in the bones as well, greatly improving joint health in many cases.

HGH and Neurology

The latest Human Growth Hormone research shows that HGH and its derivative IGF-1 play a significant role in neurological development, and may one day be a valuable treatment which can be used to alleviate or even cure the symptoms of Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS. There is also evidence that Human Growth Hormone produces positive effects upon the brain which can soften the effects of anxiety and depression.

Human Growth Hormone and Immune Health

HGH also apparently bolsters the immune system also, reducing the risk and severity of many illnesses.

When is HGH produced at its peak?

HGH is produced at its highest levels during the age of puberty. Human Growth Hormone causes the growth spurt that coincides with this developmental period.

Human Growth Hormones then decrease to the levels associated with healthy adulthood. During this period, endogenous HGH production helps sustain the body while preserving youthfulness and vitality.

When does Endogenous HGH Production Decline?

Around the age of thirty, Human Growth Hormone Levels begin to decline. The decline is slow and steady and over the following decades its effects become more and more apparent. Some individuals experience the symptoms of Human Growth Hormone Deficiency much earlier than others. When HGH Deficiency reaches a certain level it begins to become symptomatic and the Aging process becomes accelerated as a result.

What is the History of HGH?

HGH was first proven to exist in the 1920s. A few decades later, Human Growth Hormone was officially isolated in 1956, although its biological structure was indecipherable at this time. In 1958, clinical researchers injected a child who suffered from a growth disorder was injected with isolated biological Human Growth Hormone. After he was injected with Human Growth Hormone he began to grow as a result. Soon after, HGH was used as a medical treatment in order to treat HGH deficiency and Idiopathic Short Stature. The molecular structure of HGH was uncovered in 1972.

How is HGH Synthesized?

Before Bio-Identical Human Growth Hormone was synthesized and became medically available, the only way to obtain medical HGH was from the pituitary glands of human cadavers. The glands were surgically removed from the bodies and processed in a laboratory until it was converted into a pure form that could be delivered via injection. For this reason, HGH was originally very expensive to obtain and rarely used unless absolutely needed.

Today, after the invention and proliferation of new medical techniques, BioIdentical HGH can now be manufactured in unlimited amounts by scientific medical labs. Now the primary reason for the cost of the injections is a mixture of supply and demand and minimum manufacture costs. As HGH became used more and more often for purposes of performance enhancement, it was eventually banned by the medical commission of the International Olympic Committee in 1989.

Why Do Athletes Use HGH?

To boost the size of their muscles:

Human Growth Hormone helps the muscles in two primary ways. First, Human Growth Hormone has been proven to increase the size of the muscles themselves. There is little evidence that Human Growth Hormone has the direct ability to increase the strength of muscles. This is one reason why Testosterone Injections, Patches, and Creams are often used as combination therapies. Human Growth Hormone does encourage muscles strength in the following ways.

One way is by increasing metabolism rates so that the body has more energy to engage in physical exercise. The second reason is due to the rehabilitative nature of the hormone treatment. HGH has been shown to help muscles recover from physical exertion at an enhanced rate. This allows athletes to work out more often and engage in more intensive training. This also helps athletes in sports like baseball and hockey to make it through the hectic schedule of baseball season as well.

To increase metabolism

Human Growth Hormone promotes a healthier body mass index. In the offseason, Human Growth Hormone can help patients maintain their weight during periods in which they are not working out as frequently while still maintaining muscle mass developed during the season. HGH causes the body to burn fat faster, and this keeps athletes more “cut” and muscular in appearance.

To speed up healing

For players like al-Jabbar, Human Growth Hormone appears to be an effective treatment for resolving joint issues and disorders. If joint pain issues are preventing a player from achieving his potential on the field, Human Growth Hormone injections can help the player rebuild cartilage and resolve joint pain during the offseason when Performance Enhancement Testing is at its most lenient. HGH Shots can also help athletes recover from a number of other sports injuries as well.

What are the Side-Effects of HGH Use?

Human Growth Hormone when used therapeutically generally has no side-effects other than those associated with injection procedure reactions. Most side-effects of Human Growth Hormone use are the result of abuse of the drug for long periods of time in healthy patients.

One of the side-effects of HGH usage is a medical condition known as acromegaly. This disorder causes the bones of the face, hands, and feet to grow out of proportion to each other and the rest of the body. Individuals afflicted with this disorder have hands which grow larger and cup into a spade shape as they grow beyond their normal size. The face also can contort as a result of acromegaly as well, and the brows and cheekbones grow larger and create significantly altered features over time.

HGH Abuse can also exacerbate existing cancers. Although there is absolutely no proof that HGH encourages the development of cancer, it can increase the rate at which certain cancers develop. This is because Human Growth Hormone does not differentiate between healthy tissue and cancerous tissues. Individuals who undergo HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy for Anti-Aging are usually encouraged to undergo a physical and blood-testing in order to ensure that the body will benefit from the procedure.

With long term excessive use of Human Growth Hormone, the kidneys, liver, and heart sometimes grow abnormally large as a result. Obviously, this can create significant and life-threatening issues.

Athletes Knowledgeable about HGH

The idea that Human Growth Hormone can be used to encourage physical rehabilitation has turned HGH shots into a niche area of expertise for current and former professional athletes. It is certain that athletes will continue to seek out the illicit hormone, even if they don’t intend to use it for performance enhancement.

Although the knowledge of these restorative benefits are not yet common knowledge, it is incredibly likely if not absolutely definite that Human Growth Hormone will become more and more commonly used by aging baby boomers who will eventually lobby for the hormone to be approved for expanded use both for patients who suffer from HGH Deficiency and those who need help recovering from surgery or relieving chronic joint pain without surgery.

The drug is already popular among many older men and women who use it for longevity purposes, and as the drug continues to become cheaper and more benefits are revealed, it will likely become universally popular.

What is the Future of Human Growth Hormone Use for Pro Athletes?

As it becomes clearer that HGH has benefits that go far beyond mere Performance Enhancement, how do professional athletic leagues prevent the use of Human Growth Hormone for Performance Enhancement while at the same time allowing its use as a legitimate medical treatment for many common medical issues? Although Human Growth Hormone can be used to great benefit for serious patients, it also breaks down the integrity of sport when it is abused. In addition to this, it is important for both Athletic Players Association and League Commissions to ensure that players do not injure their health in order to gain that competitive advantage.

Although there have not been studies that prove that HGH Injections cause performance enhancement, it is clear by looking at the recent history of sport that HGH Shots most certainly affect the performance of its users. Would Lance Armstrong have achieved what he did without performance enhancing HGH? Would Marion Jones have broken world records? Likely not. Human Growth Hormone has not been tested sufficiently among young and healthy patients. HGH has been primarily tested as a treatment option for patients who display symptoms of deficiency, so the body of scientific knowledge in respect to athletes is very limited. The anecdotal evidence on the other hand is staggering.

What Is the Difference Between Sports Medicine and Performance Enhancement?

One ongoing issue is that performance enhancement and sports medicine are not clearly delineated. Human Growth Hormone represents a large grey area that exists where drugs can be used both to boost performance unfairly while also being valid treatments to resolve medical issues that hinder players from reaching their legitimate potential. If a quarterback is able to add four years to his career by using HGH Hormone Shots, but it doesn’t add any additional power to his throwing arm should that be considered unfair use of performance enhancing HGH? How is that any different than undergoing Tommy John surgery, which surgically increases a pitchers ability to throw a fastball? Should a profitable sports team which prides itself on having the strongest, fastest, and most athletically talented individuals even care?

Stopping HGH Use Not a Top Priority

It is very clear that the players’ unions and commissioners have put little effort into resolving the issue of HGH use in professional sports. The National Football League promised recently to donate $500,000 to scientific researchers who intend to create a urinary test that can detect the abuse of Human Growth Hormone. The MLB also made a similar donation to the efforts to create new drug tests. Endocrine experts tell us that such a small donation is a paltry sum in comparison to the actual amount of funds it would take to design and implement such a test.

HGH is Difficult to Detect

Human Growth Hormone is notoriously hard to detect in urine. Only one percent of HGH in the blood stream ever leaves the body through the process of urination, according to the World Anti-Doping Agency. It would be far more financially feasible and technically achievable to use that funding to increase research money devoted to creating a blood test for HGH Abuse since the blood contains Human Growth Hormone at much more traceable levels.

Blood testing for Human Growth Hormone Abuse was first used on a wide scale at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. During this first attempt at HGH Testing, there were no athletes that tested positive. This does not mean that the Olympics were clean—the blood testing caught no athletes because the window for PED detection was very small and easily avoidable. In addition to this, testing was not given before the Olympics so Athletes had advance warning to make sure that they would pass the test.

Today, there are more advanced and scalable screening tests in development that can more accurately and usefully test for HGH use. In addition to this, random drug testing is becoming a more popularized approach to HGH Screening.

HGH Blood Testing Debate

As of yet there is no blood testing in American Professional Sports, however. Neither league officials nor players themselves have any interest in subjecting athletes to blood testing. One National Football League official says that HGH blood testing is unreliable and ineffective, so they do not see a need to finance these PED tests.

Doctor Gary Wadler, a consultant for the World Anti-Doping Agency, disagrees heartily however. He believes that HGH Blood Tests are very effective when used as a random form of drug testing and that the NFL is implicitly giving its players the right to use Performance Enhancing HGH without being caught or overly scrutinized.

Middle Ground Needed for Legitimate HGH Use

Doctor Gordon, the physician who helped rehabilitate Motocross racer Joe Root, believes there is a safe middle ground which is available as a compromise between the two groups. Athletes should and have every right to use Human Growth Hormone therapeutically in order to enhance physical therapy or as a means to heal injured joints. He also offers the suggestion that American professional athletic organizations should take baseline IGF-1 rates of all of their rookie players in order to provide a useful baseline.

This form of baseline testing is already used in order to diagnose Concussions and increase the safety and long term health of players. The same methodology could be used for patients who choose to undergo Human Growth Hormone Therapy. If they suffer an injury for which Human Growth Hormone Injections would be highly beneficial, they could lobby for an exemption to the HGH policy on medical grounds.

After obtaining permission, they could undergo HGH Treatments under the surveillance of league officials, and IGF-1 levels can be monitored before, during, and after therapy to ensure that the player doesn’t continue to engage in HGH use for unfair reasons.

Athletes Should Be Able To Use HGH To Treat Legitimate Conditions

Los Angeles physician Dr. Gordon emphasizes that he doesn’t believe that Human Growth Hormone should be used merely for performance enhancement, because that would be a form of cheating, but he firmly believes that players who suffer from valid athletic injuries should have the right to any therapy which would benefit their physical health and long term well-being. He also believes that players who are diagnosed with HGH Hormone Deficiency should have the right to access HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy as well. Players should have the right to cyclically use HGH Hormones with proper monitoring until they have fully recuperated from their injury.

Abdul-Kareem al-Jabbar fully agrees with the approach put forth by Dr. Gordon. He says that HGH Injections should be available to those that need it but there should still be safeguards in place to make sure that the drugs are not abused. It is clear with the rampant use of Human Growth Hormone and other Performance Enhancing Drugs that there are many doctors who risk their careers providing phony HGH prescriptions explicitly to profit off of those who wish to cheat. James Short is one of these unscrupulous doctors. Al-Jabbar suggests that Human Growth Hormone should only be prescribed to athletes by a small group of approved and trustworthy physicians.

Profile in Illicit HGH Distribution: Dr. James Short

Dr. James Shortt is one of the most notorious providers of Performance Enhancing HGH and Testosterone. He was an Alternative-Medicines doctor from South Carolina who was raided in 2005 under suspicion that he was unlawfully prescribing Human Growth Hormone. When his office was raided, law enforcement officials seized medical records as well as a number of audiotapes which Shortt recorded with his patients, many of which who were professional athletes.

In one particularly damning audiotape, Shortt was informing Carolina Panther punter Todd Sauerbrun of the ins and outs of Performance Enhancement use. In this audiotape, he schooled Sauerbrun about exactly how to pass NFL drug tests, and in other tapes, he was discovered prescribing Human Growth Hormone unlawfully.

As a result of Dr. Shortt’s indiscretions, he was sent to jail for one year and one day on a charge to conspire to illegally provide Human Growth Hormone and Anabolic Steroids to athletes on the NFL Carolina Panther Squad.

Despite Its PED Status Testosterone Can Be Used Via Exemption

There are already exemptions in place for other drugs which are sometimes used as Performance Enhancers. The National Football League and the World Anti-Doping Agencies provide medical approval for Testosterone when used to treat a Diagnosed Testosterone Deficiency, for example. To this date there have been no athletes, Professional or Olympic, which have been given the right to use Human Growth Hormone Injections for any purpose.

The fact that it is so easy to get away with Human Growth Hormone usage should not be forgotten however. There is little reason to ask for permission when there is no viable means to catch those who use the drug. Asking for consent would simply make a person a target.

For this reason, whether used for legitimate medical purposes or abused for personal gain, HGH will continue to be the biggest open secret of professional and Olympic sport.

Al-Jabbar believes that anything that helps professional athletes safely should be legal. He feels that the nature of the industry of professional athletics is inherently exploitive and that when you no longer perform at your best you are simply chewed up and spat out. Players should have the right to better themselves and improve their performance by any means necessary—as long as it’s safe.

The Conscious Evolution Institute

Human Growth Hormone represents the next great phase of physiological enhancement. Although this article is primarily about the use of HGH by professional athletes, it also does a fine job at providing a background of where HGH Hormone Replacement Therapy stands as a treatment option. HGH is widely misunderstood by the media and the public at large. Its use as a performance enhancing drug has somewhat stunted the perception of this amazing and versatile hormone. Everyone hears about athletes getting in trouble for using Human Growth Hormone shots and this leads them to have a negative perception of the hormone.

Let’s make this perfectly clear right here and now:

Human Growth Hormone is not illegal!

HGH has many legitimate medical uses and research continues to unveil more and more ways that HGH Injections can be beneficial. The Conscious Evolution Institute is dedicated to the safe and legal use of Human Growth Hormone and other Hormone Replacement Therapies as a means to resolve legitimate medical conditions. We do not provide HGH for Athletic Enhancement, but only for individuals who display a genuine medical need as a result of HGH Deficiency or other legitimate medical conditions.

What are the Symptoms of HGH Deficiency

If you are over the age of thirty and are experiencing three or more of the following symptoms, Human Growth Hormone HRT may be right for you:

Human Growth Hormone Deficiency negatively affects almost every physiological system of the body. We are confident that in the coming years, the approved uses for Human Growth Hormone will begin to expand greatly. There is significant evidence that in the near future HGH could be approved to treat a number of other disorders such as Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) and cartilage destroying injuries. In addition to this, the article above presents a significant amount of evidence that HGH is a valid and useful treatment that can be in addition to physical therapy as a form of rehabilitation of injury and illness.

Testosterone Therapy Benefits

Correctly performed testosterone therapy can be your ticket to health.

Three sided solution: Testosterone + HCG + Arimidex

If your doctor only prescribes testosterone by itself, you will probably have a rough ride. The tendency is for you to feel great the first couple months, while you increase testosterone levels, followed by a slow deterioration, once your estrogen creeps up.

High estrogen negates a lot of the positives from testosterone therapy, resulting in the same symptoms of low testosterone you had in the first place!

The solution is to add a drug called Arimidex. It's called an aromatase inhibitor, which essentially blocks the conversion of testosterone to estrogen. It has the effect of increasing testosterone levels, while keeping your estrogen low.

Once you have your testosterone and estrogen solved, it's time to stop the next inevitable decline? Shrinking testicles.

This is where HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) comes in. It prevents both infertility and testicle shrinkage. Your testicles shrink because your body thinks it doesn't need to make testosterone anymore.

For some, small testicles may seem like just a cosmetic problem. But HGC does more than increase testicle size, it also increases adrenal function, which can have positive effects on well-being, libido, and energy.
