I
just got this book yesterday from my local library, and so far I cant
put it down. It came out a few years ago, I think, but I never got
around to reading it, cause I didnt want to buy it. Thank God for the
library!
Stallones movies were THE films to see when I was a kid/teenager.
The Rockys, the Rambos, Star Wars, Superman, and Indiana Jones those
were the films of my generation. Oh, and Back to the Future and Karate
Kid, I guess. The first one. But, I digress.
This book has a lot of valuable insight into Stallones training
methods during all those movies I loved. And its surpisingly funny in
parts. He has a really self deprecating sense of humor that I didnt
expect. I am not to the work out plan sections yet, but they dont look
like anything new. Same old exercises.
A really interesting thing about the book is that its fun to
compare Slys earliest photos, when he didnt know how to train or eat
correctly, to the uber-fit Rocky 3 days, to his current unbelievable
condition in his early to mid 60s. Again, Im not done with it yet, so
maybe Im just not to that point, but so far he hasnt said anything in
this book about being arrested in Australia for bringing Human Growth
Hormone (HGH) into the country last year. Somehow I dont think he
will, either.
Regardless, for anybody who idolized Stallone like I did as a kid,
and for anybody who wants to start getting into shape, I think this is
a great book.
